Art & Design
Where it started...I began with art classes in the third grade with charcoal, but now I've dabbled in nearly every medium. I feel most at home using pencils, ink, acrylic paint, oil paint, and utilizing digital tools to create and design graphics.
After graduating from high school, I wanted to make a profession out of art. While my portfolio was received well during an interview at an art college, the admissions counselor suspected I would miss learning math and science. They were right. I took the opportunity to reflect and fell in love with Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience. While I was fascinated with decision-making behaviors, my eye for composition and design allowed me to share what I learned in a clear and digestible way. I became the go-to person to design posters, presentations and figures that were both informative and engaging. Below is an Art & Design Showcase of examples created for recreation, for work within the Kable Lab the Master in Behavior and Decision-Making Sciences program, and for my own recreation. Here is a slideshow of some other work as well. |

Art in one night | Lemon Growth
During the pandemic, I decided to challenge myself and hone my skills as a digital artist. For about thirty-five weeks, I streamed to a live audience on twitch to create “Art in One Night” to create an artwork within four hours based on a set of randomized prompts. This example was my twelfth work, based on the prompts “Fruit”, “Black and White Toned”, and “Sunset”.
This piece was accepted in an art exhibition called "A Celebration of Art and Life" at Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine. The piece was titled "Lemon Growth" and was created in Adobe Photoshop. |
Product Design | Marketing Flyer
During my mastery program at UPenn, I created this flier for a Product Design course. Here I was able to apply my art in a new context and explore new aspects of designing and marketing a physical product.
I took on the role as Project Manager and Marketing Designer for a team of four to learn from and coordinate the skills of our mechanical engineers. Through this project, I was able to learn more about what it takes to bring a product to market and was able to learn more about CAD by designing the leaf-shaped dish featured in the product. The flier was designed in Microsoft Word, featuring photos of the product taken by a team member, wireframes from our CAD design, and an additional stock photo. In the slideshow, you can see a picture of my product design team and the soap dish we created! |
LAb Website | ICon creation
During my time with the Kable Lab, I designed and maintained our website, in collaboration with another lab manager. (website link)
I love building websites. There is something satisfying about arranging information and creating images for a specific idea. I ended up creating all the image icons off of the research page for Dr. Joe Kable, and I am happy with the result. Coming up with a visualization for scientific concepts is a fun and rewarding process. |
