How can you possibly have a Facts and Questions Page?
Excellent question! The following are questions have been prompted by new clients, future work associates, friends, or when I explain to my grandmother what I "do".
Laura, what is your Job?
I currently work as a Visual Creative Strategist Consultant with my main client being Pharos Resources. I take their student retention data and make it understandable. I interview student success advisors and re-tell their strategies into actionable items for other universities to adopt. This is a job near and dear to my heart because it's at the intersection of data and design in a field I am passionate about.
What is your highest education?
I finished my Mastery degree at the University of Pennsylvania in Spring 2024! My chosen degree is "Masters in Behavior and Decision-Making Sciences" also known as the MBDS program. I applied to this program to aid in my transition from academia to an industry job, and it has been an amazing experience.
Aside from science, do you have any hobbies?
I love creating art, reading, cooking, yoga, gardening and taking pictures of my cat. Before graduate school, I was a twitch streamer for about a year. I used that time to see if I would enjoy working in science communication and advising undergraduates through college by creating presentations about scientific papers, teach about neuroscience, and general college survive & thriving skills. I also used that time to learn how to create digital art (since most of my skill up until that point was all hands on art). I am always using opportunities to learn new skills.
I also love planning parties and events! I usually have about 2-3 planned at a time and they are always hits! A personal favorite is my Steampunk themed wedding and more recently I'm working on a "Task Master" themed party.
